Thank you! Yeah, there are actually six of these queued up, and potentially more after that.

I was hoping to imply that her discovery of the spirits came from hovering around the more experienced and awesome shamans, and was not so much a natural talent as something learned from eavesdropping. As I understand it so far, the shaman gain that connection through asking nicely, so I didn't figure it was making her out to be too special that listening and being polite was much of a natural connection. I'll have to go back and read Unbroken again (it's been a while) to make sure I'm not overshadowing anything. Xere is most definitely not intended to be a special snowflake.Winterbornhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07495858733611152675noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3876868364868566371.post-84320139585607074762009-10-29T02:00:06.147-05:002009-10-29T02:00:06.147-05:00Great use of description in this story. I particularly liked this line:

"On the side of a building, a large blue handprint, and then a long smear, as if the hand’s owner had used the wall to prop himself up long enough to keep going."

Are you planning to continue this? The story seems like it's set up for something longer (an idea also implied by the title). It would be interesting to see why Xeremuriis seems to enjoy some natural connection with the spirit.

One suggestion (feel free to incorporate as you see fit, of course): don't let Xeremuriis' connection with the spirits come across as too powerful or special. Nobundo's discovery of shamanism should, I think, be at least somewhat exceptional.

Anyway, keep writing!Destronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08880259350300667791noreply@blogger.com
